Video projection on the Town Hall Square

A highlight video of the projection

For the kickoff of the anniversary year '200 years of seaside resort Zandvoort' , the Raadhuisplein was transformed into an impressive visual spectacle. Using projection mapping, the rich history of Zandvoort came to life on the facade of the monumental town hall.

In a compact yet powerful six-minute show, the story of two centuries of development was told. From a modest coastal town to a renowned seaside resort with international allure. Through a combination of animation, light, and sound, an immersive experience was created that visibly moved the audience.

Experience and setup

The show was repeated several times each evening, allowing visitors to join at their own time. Between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM, the projection restarted every fifteen minutes, ensuring a constant stream of people on the square.

What makes this installation strong is the balance between technology and storytelling. The visual projections seamlessly aligned with the architecture of the town hall, making the building itself part of the story. Combined with supporting sound, history was given not only a face but also a feeling.

Impact

The opening attracted many visitors and marked a successful start to the anniversary year. The reactions were positive and engaged. People stopped, watched with fascination, and took the time to experience the full story.

This project demonstrates how powerful visual design can be in conveying history and identity. By combining technology and creativity, an experience is created that lingers.
